ATLANTA, June 26, 2006 - Cellular industry experts awarded MISSION Communications the
prestigious Value Chain Award at the annual M2M (Machine to Machine) convention in
San Antonio, Texas. The Value Chain Award is given to applicants who best demonstrate
using advanced technology to provide substantial economic or operational improvements
over existing methods. The award covers a wide variety of services ranging from vehicle
tracking, corporate mail services, and vending machine monitoring to utility GIS, meter
reading and SCADA applications. End users of these M2M services sponsor the entrants
to the Value Chain Award.
The City of Frankfort, Kentucky entered MISSION as it recently replaced its existing
SCADA system with a MISSION Communications system that utilizes Nextel data services
and Motorola radios. The City deployed 58 SCADA RTU’s on each of its waste water pumping
stations; the retrofit took only 3 months to complete. The price was less than 1/3rd
of the closest quote offered by system integrators using traditional private radio
based SCADA. In addition, the new SCADA system has already saved the city thousands
of dollars by lowering operating costs and by preventing catastrophic failures with
early detection software built into the system.
MISSION Communications is based in Atlanta, Georgia and provides turnkey monitoring and SCADA services
to the water and wastewater utility industry. MISSION was the first to introduce the wireless to
web concept to the water industry and is the acknowledged leader in the field.
