ATLANTA, August 5, 2002 -- MISSION Communications upgraded
its server based software to track alarms with an
unprecedented level of detail from end to end. Most systems
track when alarms get sent and that they are acknowledged.
The new Alarm Tracking System (ATS) tracks 12 specific
points to help ensure not just that alarms get delivered,
but that alarm site problems get fixed. The ATS system
tracks what specific alarm occurred, when it occurred, the
status of other site equipment, what callout group was
activated (depending on what alarm, time of day and day of
week it is) when and how each person was notified, what
happened with each notification, who acknowledged the alarm
and when, who showed up at the alarm site next, when they
got there and how long they were there.
Bob Hay, Chief Software Engineer said, “the key points in the new
system are what specifically happened with each notification
attempt and did personnel make it to the site to fix the
problems”. He went on to say that “when trying to call a
specific person, you want to know if the phone actually rang
and no one answered or if the phone was answered and then
was simply hung up before the message was delivered; all 12
analysis points help operators know how to improve problem
detection and resolution.”
