ATLANTA, June 14, 2001 -- MISSION Communications
announced today that it has automated the wireless
connection process involved in initially installing a
MISSION RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) in the field.
Effectively immediately, all RTU’s will be shipped with the
automatic connection feature. “Previously the cellular
System ID (SID) had to be entered manually in the field
through a laptop computer depending upon the RTU’s
location,” said John Collings, MISSION President. “Now all
you do is plug in the AC and the RTU will automatically
connect with MISSION anywhere in North America. This greatly
simplifies the installation process which can now be easily
done in an hour or two.”
Collings went on to say that, “because MISSION is one
of only a very few control channel applications that designs
all its hardware and writes its software code for the entire
system, we are able to update our features on a regular
basis. Virtually all our competitors buy their system in
whole or in part form somebody else.”
